•••Technology can fee soul-destroying and all pervasive. Especially with how much it has been used in recent years to harm our communities, warp our relationship to nature and each other, and displace our friends and family. But technology itself does not have a politic; it can be used for freedom struggles as well, as we see it’s increasingly useful role in Palestine, Yemen, and Ukraine. Based on experience of attendees (it’s a co-creation!), this will be a beginner-friendly class to learn about the basics of how to program and build your own projects using sensors, robots, cameras, and even some AI . 3D printing and other tools of the trade will also be discussed. Even more importantly, this class aims to focus on encouraging an anti-fascist, anti-capitalist relationship with our technological world, sharing the joy and creativity that is possible with a different value system, rooted in community care, creativity, diversity, and environmentalism.

It combines theater techniques with organizing tools to create a fresh approach to social justice that focuses on collective liberation and divergent ways of being. In these workshops, we’ll dive into activities that connect play, power, justice, resistance, and joy—challenging the usual ideas about who gets to play and how we relate with each other. We’ll be inspired by natural systems (things like mycelial networks, octopuses, dreams, dark matter, crystal formations, and fractals) where change emerges through collaboration and mutual support. Emergent Play welcomes all flavors and textures that you are. Together, we’ll co-create new spicy nourishing ones, no matter your background or experience. By reclaiming our ability to play in times of crisis, we can reimagine our own playfulness as a space of radical possibilities.

••• How do corporations make the Internet work for them, and how might we make it work for us instead? How does the Internet even work in the first place? Can I make those fucking pop-up ads go away and stop paying for five streaming services? We’ll answer the big infrastructural questions first, allowing us to see where/how corporations track and advertise to us. Then we’ll explore some low/zero-effort and free countermeasures to improve our daily Internet use. Finally, we’ll tackle piracy and torrenting: what does a peer-to-peer network look like? How might one access free books, movies, software, shows, etc.? For this part, we’ll try torrenting the presentation being given in the class. This course will facilitate discussion around a focused collection of multimedia materials—from book chapters to zines to films—that frame the basics of decolonization in theory and practice. Participants don’t need to have any prior knowledge of this subject; they will be encouraged to bridge the past and present and adopt a transnational perspective on decolonization by considering mobilizations both within and outside North America.

A professional reader who has advised more than 200 clients will show you methods to: form a bond with the cards, increase mental receptivity, see the big picture, determine which questions are worthy of divination, ask the right question and understand why the question is as important as the answer, be faithful to your senses and the cards, mine confusing spreads for new information, and, vitally, to fulfill the sacred obligation of the reader to the client and avoid hurting people. This class is ideal for an intermediate-level reader, but beginners and experts will still learn something. Bring your favorite deck if you have one, and bring a question or two for the cards.

••• Communicating across differences with care and creativity is a challenge we all face in our processes of community forming, building, sustaining, and organizing. How might creative expression and writing help us learn how to talk to each other, tolerate discomfort, navigate conflict, and build community resiliency? What might be the role of poetry and creative writing in building toward a “we”? Through creative writing, can “we” expand our ideas of community and collective resistance? In this workshop, we will read some examples of poetry and creative prose that explore the perspective of “we.” Then, we will explore and discuss how writing from/for “us”—through collaborative writing, choral expression, dialog, and more—can help us develop empathetic, non-individualist approaches to being together in community.

Prisoner Solidarity: Why and How with M&E

Our hope is to work against capitalism’s drive to disconnect and isolate families and inter-generational relationships. We aim to build community/network among anarchist families in the bay, as well as  incorporate non-parents who are interested in sharing experiences with future anarchists.

The summer time in California provides a fresh abundance through local farmers, back yard fruit trees, and wild foraged berries. Preserving these foods at the time of harvest can increase our communities capacity to store foods, makes distribution more accessible to people with out refrigerators or kitchens, and this age old tradition of putting up food can also make our communities more resilient in the face of natural disasters. Assess the conditions of the site, find resources, and make a plan. If you have a site in mind or would like to host one of these class sessions, we are looking for you. No place is too small, hostile, or out of reach. Show us your backyard, balcony, sidewalk/median strip, or underutilized public-ish space. Deadline for site proposals is 5/31.

••• Are we prepared for a natural disaster? In this session, we will present and analyze the state’s plans for disaster response at the local and federal level. We will discuss possible engagement and intervention into the official disaster response and propose strategies for creating an anarchist emergency response plan.
